About JobMatcha
Hi, I'm Vicky, and I started JobMatcha.
My story
-
Starting out
When I finished high school, I wasn't sure what career I wanted. I went to university because it seemed
like the expected path and completed a Bachelor of Commerce.
-
A career assessment
After university, I completed a professional career assessment. It suggested careers including
optometry and education, two paths I had never seriously considered.
What stayed with me was how useful it was to see possibilities I had not thought about
before.
-
Education and training
I eventually moved into education and training, where I have now spent more than twenty years.
Why I started JobMatcha
Professional career guidance can be expensive and difficult for many people to access. I wanted to create
a simpler way for people to understand their options and see where their skills could take them.
JobMatcha grew from that idea.
It helps people explore career directions, compare themselves with jobs, prepare resumes and applications,
and practise for interviews.
What matters to you is personal. You might want:
- Better pay
- More flexibility
- Greater security
- Career progression
- Interesting work
- Simply a change
JobMatcha is designed to help you understand your options and make your own decisions about what comes
next.
My background
My own career has crossed education, finance and technology. I have taught children, young people and adults, worked
in finance and business software, and helped adults improve their English and prepare for the Pearson Test
of English (PTE).
JobMatcha is built and run in Australia by a team with experience across software development, education,
training and business.
I hope it helps you see possibilities you may not have considered before.

What JobMatcha can help you do
Career Explorer
Career Explorer helps you explore careers based on how you naturally prefer to work. It shows careers
that may suit you and possible pathways into them.
It is not designed to tell you that there is one perfect career for you. It gives you options to
explore so you can make your own decisions.
Where your skills can take you
Already working but wondering what else you could do?
This tool starts with the work you already do and looks at the skills and experience you have built
along the way. It shows other careers that may use those skills and what study or training may be needed
to move into them.
Resume, cover letter and selection criteria tools
JobMatcha helps you turn your actual experience, skills and achievements into documents you can use
when applying for work.
Our tools can help with resumes, cover letters and selection criteria, using information based on what
you have actually done rather than inventing experience for you.
Our resume layouts are designed to be clear, professional and easy for common applicant tracking
systems to read.
Where our information comes from
We believe career information should be based on reliable sources, not guesses.
Occupation information, skills and education data come from sources including O*NET, a career
information system sponsored by the United States Department of Labor.
Australian occupation, employment, salary and labour market information comes from sources including
Jobs and Skills Australia and the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
Where JobMatcha uses outside data, we aim to identify the source so you can check important
information yourself.
Our approach to resumes and applicant tracking systems is also based on published information from
recruitment technology providers and industry sources rather than common internet myths about how
resumes are screened.
What we do not do
- We do not promise that JobMatcha will get you a job or an interview.
- We do not pretend there is one perfect career for everyone.
- We do not make your career decisions for you. Our tools help you understand your options so you can
decide what is right for you.
- We do not sell your personal information, and recruiters or employers do not see your answers unless
you choose to share information with them.
- We explain which features are free and what is included in paid plans.
Our aim
Choosing a career or deciding what to do next can be confusing.
You may know that you want something different but not know what your experience qualifies you to do.
You may be wondering whether you need more study, whether your skills could transfer to another industry
or how to explain what you can do to an employer.
Our aim is simple: help you understand what you already have, discover where it could take
you and present yourself more effectively when you are ready to apply.
